Hi,
Kohan: Ahriman's Gift used to work well on my macOS 10.10.5 machine with older versions of Crossover. Since upgrading to 10.13.6 & Crossover 17.x I noticed that the game had large input lag, making it unplayable. In Crossover 18.0.0 and 18.1.0 the game would freeze after clicking on the main menu.
I tried this again yesterday and found that it is possible to use DxWnd from within your bottle to launch KAG either in fullscreen or windowed mode. This amazing utility app seems to emulate/configure enough behaviour by default to get things running.
Steps
- Install using CD Image (Windows XP), or Steam Crosstie (Windows 7).
- Enter the CD Key on first launch.
If you are experiencing input lag or freezing then continue to setup DxWnd.
- Install DxWnd from SoureForge, decompressing the rar somewhere in your bottle (Program Files).
- Launch dxwnd.exe

Choose the path to your installation and Kohan_AG.exe.
"Generic: Run in Window"
This works, select if you want to run in a window without a resolution change to 1024x768.

Y 50,
W 1024,
H 768

Press Ok.
From now on use DxWnd to launch Kohan Ahriman's Gift.
Notes
I have validated these steps with my older Windows XP / CD image bottle. I have not tried DxWnd with my Steam / Windows 7 bottle yet, but it displayed the same input lag and freezing as the XP one. There is an existing configuration for KAG in DxWnd, but importing it crashed the wine process deep in the driver stack of my NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M.
Cheers,
Chris
