I tried to run the installer downloadable from www.java.com > Free Java Download.

There I chose "Windows 7/XP/Vista/2000/2003/2008 Offline" and then ran jre-6u19-windows-i586-s.exe in my Internet Explorer 7 bottle.

I got an error in the end of the installer, "Could not create Virtual Machine".

If I try to go to a Java-website, it doesn't work.

Anyone got it working?

I tested in CrossOver 9.0, winxp bottle with already installed Internet Explorer 7, and it installed correctly. But applets don't work. Then I tested with Java 6u18 and worked! if you don't mind using 6u18 download and install it from:
