OS: Redhat 9, now being patched by Fedora Legacy
Installed Crossover ITunes Preview by first creating a symbolic link
ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7a ~/cxitunespreview/lib/libcrypto.so
Redhat 9 uses libcrypto.so.0.9.7a
Made sure that libungif was installed. Check. rpm -q libungif returned
libungif-4.1.0-15
Created a new user account called codeweaver.
Installed ITunes Preview
[codeweaver@sm0-13] ./install-crossover-itunespreview-3.1.0alpha4.sh
Went through the process of installing ITunes. Didn't have to download ITunes. Nice.
After exiting Crossover ITunes Preview, I fired up ITunes from the GNOME desktop entry and waited and waited and waited. Had a kpm window up to monitor what wine was doing. After an eternity, ITunes came up.
I then logged into ITunes Music Store. I picked Rock -> Yes, or rather, I attempted to pick it but couldn't because of GUI errors. Found a tedious way to scroll through all the bandnames and pick Yes. Then I chose Tormato -> Don't Kill The Whale and purchased it using my stored credit card.
Bought this song since I had just purchased it from allofmp3.com. Wanted to compare. Since allofmp3 is a dodgy Russian website, if ITunes works with crossover, I'll be switching to it even though it is usually ten times more expensive per song.
Couldn't exit ITunes since the File -> Exit button didn't work. Killed it using Reset Crossover Office.
Overall: Not bad. ITunes Preview is SLLLLOOOOOWWWW as molasses but seems to basically work. There are quite a few GUI bugs. Kudos to codeweavers though. Wonder if Apple will help or will they hate this and attempt to throw roadblocks?
