Access .htaccess-protected sites with IE7?

Hi there,
whenever I try to access any website that requires an authentication through the system pop-up window (invoked by a .htaccess file), I can't. Can you?

I've got the message below but now window appear so I can try to login.
That's frustrating.

Authentication required!
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the URL "/". You either supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

In case you are allowed to request the document, please check your user-id and password and try again.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Error 401

Regards
germain

PS: same sites works great in ie6 running on another "bottle"

I too am having this problem. No dialog appears to provide username and password, it just goes straight to the Authentication Required error page. Similar to Germain, sames sites work fine in the IE6 version.

I have multiple websites that I'd like to be able to test that use .htaccess files, so I'd really like to see this fixed or know of any workaround.

Thanks!
Windy

I'm seeing the same thing - no login window appears, and I'm immediately presented with an error page. I am also unable to log in to any site using https (original report elsewhere on this forum)

Same problem here. ☹️

Same exact experience here - when I browse to any site that pops up a login prompt, I'm immediately taken to the "401 unauthorized" page instead of even being prompted.

Anyone have any ideas?

IE7 Is working in Crossover 8, but i notice in Battlefield heroes messed uped pages. Especially the important page where to install the active x (in this case the game!!) most sites i tested worked well.
