I installed IE 7 successfully but the minute I launch it to access a webpage, it starts freezing and becomes unusable, I can't close the window, I have to force quit.
I'm using Mountain Lion.

I have the same issue and I don't yet know what causes the crash. I'll let you know if I find out.
