Internet Explorer 6 and 7 doing weird stuff with animated gifs

I run Internet Explorer 6 & 7 with Parallels running Win XP and don't have this issue, but when I run Crossover IE 6 & 7, I'm finding that some animated gifs disappear. For example this website shows a wide animated gif on the left middle area of the page, but with Crossover's IE 6 & 7, it just flickers and then shows black/disappears:

(It's a continuation of the desert photo panorama that shows up on the right, the gif should continue on the left there)

Any ideas on why this is happening and can it be resolved?

bumping... anyone?
