Joystick support?

Hi,

I'm trying to enable my joystick on IL-2 1946 (steam). I followed the Tips & Tricks and runned il2set.exe but I've got the message:

Command Results

The command /Users/eduardo/Library/Application Support/CrossOver Games/Bottles/Steam/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/il 2 sturmovik 1946/il2set.exe returned 53.

StdOut:

StdErr:

``` (and the game runs after the error)
If I go to "About This mac\hardware\USB" I can see the device:
4-axis 8-button joystick:
Product ID: 0x1004
Vendor ID: 0x0458 (KYE Systems Corp. (Mouse Systems))
Version: 1.02
Speed: Up to 1.5 Mb/sec
Location ID: 0xfd130000
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 100
The Joystick is: Genix Maxfighter f-23
Using: cxgames mac 9.1 (snow leopard)
Any ideas?
thanks in advance.
Hi,
I really can't speak to the Steam release of this title, I can relate to
you my experience with HUDs and the GOG release. The fact that il2set.exe
isn't running for you, means we're already facing a different situation...
In linux, the game was a bit picky about that controller functions it
would determine it had...or not. It could not 'see' a second joystick
device...ie; in linux, the 'first' joystick device appears at /dev/js0
and this is all the game would see (if you had other controllers at
/dev/js1, /dev/js2 etc they were not recognized). I think the game HUD
input coding, was originally designed to work with joystick/flight-yoke
setups attached to the old PC 15pin gameport input, and the control layout
and functions defined by that standard. So it seemed to be okay with a 2
or 3 axis (throttle) joystick with 4 button and/or HAT -- it became very
confused and went mad when I presented it with my Xpad controller 8)
When I wrote that tip&trick, it was before the time I had a Mac. When I
did test the GOG release on the iMac, it was with a USB gamepad (not analog)
using 'gamepad companion' and that much was working. It's not a test of
USB analog input however, and il2set.exe does run for me with the GOG version
on the Mac. It's hard for me to replicate your situation, a lot of this
is hardware/driver specific...I'll have a look if the Xpad freeks it out
on the Mac as well though...sorry I can't be of more help here.
Cheers!
Hi again,
I just tried this in OSX 10.6.4 with the xpad connected (and the OSX
'XHD' xpad driver from sourceforge.net) - the GOG version of IL-2 could
not see this device at all. Using the logitech gamepad with either 'Gamepad
Companion' or 'USB Overdrive' works, but that is just remapping the
game controller input to keyboard events, and is not an analog input...the
game itself does not see the USB gamepad device as such.
Cheers!
