Introduction to Client Access

Client Access is a client for IBM's famous ISeries/400 (formerly known as AS/400) machines. The program provides a flexible, scriptable environment with data connections and various administrative tools. This is built on the 5250 telnet emulation, but also provides SQL based data transfer from/to to the server, and a professional API for further developments.

Has anyone made this work?

I have been unable to do so with any meaningfull functionality. There are Linux versions of the 5250 for iSeries now at IBM and am in hope that running a native version will be available soon.

Well, there is native version, but with much much less functionality. (On request I can help to get it.)
Unfortunately however I can install the windows client, I was not able to manage any connection.

I can get it to install using a Windows 2000 Bottle. I have not been able to get anything to run. It acts like it is going to run but never does. I have tried just about every EXE in that folder as I can and nothing ever runs.

It would be great if it worked but as it stands now I think it needs some other .dll's to get it working.

I used to work at the iSeries Support Center in CS1 which is the connectivity que and I know that there were other dll's that were needed to get it up and running that are not what you would call "normal" windows dll's.

I might make a call to a few folks @ IBM that might be able to help.

Update: I have UBUNTU 6 and Client Access V5R3M0 I can't get anything to run. Nothing and I am not sure why at this point. Can someone from Codeweavers look at this app to see why not?

The Linux Version is just 5250/Telnet and ODBC. I need to be able to use OpsNav more than anything else to move to Linux at work.

If you install V4 version of client access, then you'll be even able to run some parts, but unfortunately I wasn't still able to connect with PC5250...
