Game works well in offline mode using /offline option that was proposed in tips & tricks section. However, if you buy game you have to unlock all features by logging in one time. I managed to get online mode to work by using native version of crypt32 library

1. apt-get install winetricks
2. winetricks crypt32

This way UPlay works but it might break something else. That's why you should go to Wine settings and configure that native version of crypt32 is used only with uplay.exe (and builtin is used by default)

I tried your suggestion and it still does not work. Can you still play using this tip? I am stuck on the uplay screen with the message "Looking for updates."
