Heroes of Might and Magic 6 / VI - Freeze!!!!

Hi all.

Just bought and installed 'Heroes of Might and Magic VI', the newest game in the series.

Well the installation with Crossover Games went fine and it downloaded and patched the game to version 1.1.1 without any problems, even starting the 'Uplay' flawlessly. BUT when pressing the Play button its shows a loading picture and just freezes. 😭

Anyone got the same problem????

Running OS X 10.7.2 on a brand new MacBook Pro 13"

Please help!!!! 😀

I have tried installing the game in all the different Windows bottle types but didn't find any improvement or difference, though it didn't run at all in windows 98.

Standard install bottle is WinXP.

Patched to 1.2.1 but nothing changed. Still freezing when I press play in the ubisoft Uplay screen.

While searching the web for some help I found that it should work in version 1.2.0 with WINE version 1.3.35. But I don't know when this version go WINE is going to be implemented into CrossOver Games.

Hi,
I don't know what is your macbook specification but please remember that HMM VI require 512 gfx memory, and most likely will not run on integrated systems.

I am going to try it on my macbookpro 17 late 2011 i'll let you know if it will run. I am die hard HMM fan :)

Update: it doesn't work for me. Fails on launching, says graphic chipset not supported (ATI).
Any help appreciated.

Still no change in Version 11.0.2 (11.0.2.25991)

Still freezes!!! :(

Anyone tried with latest update ? (1.3)

oh man .... 😭
how tragic. i hope, that this game becomes playable soon. i loved and still love the might & magic series.

This game runs even poorly and unstable native under windows. I hope there will be some code optimization from original developer before we can even dream to run this under crossover. Most bugged program ever. Hopeless ATM.

hello !

did anybody try to install HoMM 6 with crossover 12 ?

thx !

There are already 3 expansion sets for HMM VI and still can't get it working properly under mac. Dissapointing

The UbiSoft DRM is causing the crash, not the game itself. Adding "/offline" to the start-up options/command line, and the game should run. (It does on this 10.8.2 MacBook)

@Nolan Taeksang Yoo

Where exactly should I add "/offline"...could you break that down step by step for the more technic challenged people, please? I searched everywhere online and can't find a decent and clear description...tried everything and the game just freezes up.

Thank you in advance.

Thanks, I'll try this today!

I don't understand, either. Can somebody please explain?

This is a stab in the dark but here it goes.

In the bottle manager you select the bottle where the game is installed, use the Run Command button, navigate to where the game's executable file resides and select it. There now should be a long line of text which is the path to the executable file, followed by the executable's name. At the end of that line add /offline <- this is space followed by the /offline switch. It should look something like:
"/folder1/folder2/.../game.exe" /offline

If you're launching the game from Steam, there is an option to add that switch by right clicking on the game's name and then on Properties.

Thanks for your clear reply! I was able to find it and add the offline tag. Unfortunately I get a "serious error" and the game crashes upon starting. Too bad! :(

The "/offline" mode does work for me but only allows access to game menus only. I can not play any of the games because "confluence" requires me to start the game online at least once. If I do not use the "/offline" command than it hangs on the uplay screen saying "Looking for updates."
