I just installed and it seemed to go perfectly, except there's no sound. I tried installing DirectX into the bottle and then doing a re-install of HoMM III but still no sound. Any ideas?

Linux? Which distro? If Ubuntu check that you have the package: libasound2-plugins:i386
Mac? Which version?
Hmph. Should have investigated more before posting. I'm using Fedora 20 on x86_64 and the problem had nothing to do with HoMM per se... it was resolved by doing "yum install alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686".
As for HoMM, it's working (with sound) now but crashes occasionally.
