HOI 3 FTM 3.05 crashes on startup

hello i installed hoi3 through gamersgate. (worked flawlessly)
i additionally installed directx9 and visual c++ 2010 from the game.
the rest was done by the community applet i found in cxgames.

now when i try to start hoi3 i get the following errors:
http://pastebin.com/mgA3fN1G

i really would be happy if someone could help me...

Hi....

...apols for sounding a bit vague in chat ; some of
what you were saying didn't make sense to me .. now
that I see you're talking about HOI3-FTM (and not just
HOI3), it all makes a bit more sense...

...now ..where were we with this -- another advocate
& I were poking at this with a hot stick a little while
ago, and it was being annoying then (why it currently
has a bronze medal) ... I just reinstalled it on what
is a new system build, and I'm still fixing/fitting bits
and pieces to it.. coincidentally enough, gstreamer-plugins
is one area I hadn't finished off...

..one of the questions, was if the gstreamer error you
were seeing actually mattered - answer ; it's a possibility.
As I only had gstreamer + base-plugins done, I ran into
like errors pretty quickly ; not an error, the libraries
weren't there and HoI3 was crashing at startup. As I fixed
things up, HoI3 stopped crashing, but I'm still missing a
plugin or two ; point is, if my fixing of things that was
also changing the gstreamer loadup could make HoI3 crash
or not, it's possible the error you see could be doing same...

....ummm... patches ; if you're telling me that when you
install the gamersgate version and it's patched to v1.4
already (actually 1.04 ) ..and... that you see no patches
on the gamersgate download page, I'm going to wonder just
what-the-hey is going on... that is, on my gamersgate
account page for HoI3, there's the installer stub, patch
for v1.2 and patch for v1.4 ..and... you do need to install
both patches. Is there a different gamersgate release?..(if
you don't know, I'll just email them and ask ;)..

..I'll keep getting gstreamer into shape and post back...

Cheers!

edit: ahh, that must be the FTM release..dang... this is
getting confusing... I'll get a C4 page hoisted for the
FTM release and have this thread moved there...

Update:

...okay, HoI3:FTM has it's own C4 page now, and this
thread will be moved there sometime. In the meanwhile,
I also added entries for the 2 HoI3 patches, so I'll
have to rework the HoI3 crosstie to suit...

..wrt the gstreamer stuff, you can provide a winelib
override of winegstreamer=disabled to bypass that
loadout, but in doing so the bottle will become more
reliant on using windows native libs to get the job done..

Update 2:

..okay, I found some time and sat down to finally figure
it all out... I knew the gstreamer pipes in wine were all
new and WIP, so it didn't surprise when after fixing all
my gstreamer libs, that winegstreamer.dll in the current
version of CXG is still lacking heaps of stuff, and it just
kept running into code stubs (fixmes) ; so that isn't going
to run and you -are- well advised to set a winelib override
for winegstreamer=disable ....

thank you for that testing, i will try what you suggested ;)
hopefully i will have time tonight for some extensive testing...

Hi again...

... FTM is an expansion for HoI3, is that correct? The
crossties I did for the gamersgate HoI3 install, also
install the 2 patches, but, I'm unsure if the FTM installer
includes those patches or not (they do this sometimes).
Hopefully the windows installer will handle the situation
anyhow, The crosstie will be active in 10.5hours from the
time of this posting...let me know how you get on...

Cheers!

well i can only speak for gamersgate.
the gamersgate installer installs visual c++ 2010 and directx.
i will try now with your cross tie.

ps: yes ftm is the second addon for hoi3, the first addon was semper fi

well i was trying to install it now, but there is no crosstie for hoi ftm and the normal hoi crosstie does not work anymore since there are no patches for my version.
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-HOI3CDE/hearts-of-iron-3-collection-german-version

i have this one, this includes everything. after installation i have a fully patched game.
so you might need to build a crosstie for that as well :(

Hey there,

...ouch, I suspected as much...and I think I've found something
weird happening with the HoI 3 crossties (there's two in the editor)
which I'm still trying to figure out.. but like you say, it seems
the release you have (which is the collection release, .DE locale)
is of a different structure, and so it needs it's own crosstie..

..actually, I take it this is a single 'Download Hearts of Iron III
Collection.exe' or similar installer that you download from your
gamersgate account, and it installs -all- those expansions & DLC in
one go? If that's the case, that specific release needs it's own C4
page really, and crosstie...bother...(why do they do this to us? >:)

..if that's so, post back and I'll add it to C4...

Cheers!

edit: or submit it yourself =)

yes it installs everything in a rush.
and i guess i have the english version but im not sure, i just posted the first collection i found.

anything new?

..anything new?...well, I went to hospital today, saw a
police car-chase on the way home.... =)

..seriously tho' I did find an issue with the crosstie system,
but as yet, I've not heard back about it (I'll chase it when
the ninjas get back into CWHQ in 5hours or so)...

...I could fashion together a crosstie for the collection
release, but, you would need provide me with the following
data...

*the actual name of the gamersgate installer exe

*with the collection edition installed (whether it runs or not),
open a shell and type the following command....

"(path to cxgames directory)/bin/wine --bottle "(bottle name)" ~/.cxgames/(bottle name)/drive_c/windows/system32/uninstaller.exe --list"

where (path to cxoffice directory) is either /opt/cxgames or
~/cxgames (depending on whether you used the .bin installer
or not)... quotation marks are required (" ") ..paste the
output back here, and I can do something about this...

Cheers!

oh well, i will provide the desired info as soon as i can,
good luck ;)
