The original Half Life game is available on Steam to download for $0.98 until 21st November 2008 (normal price says $9.99) to celebrate it's 10 year anniversary.

Make sure you meet the minimum system requirements though: ;)

Minimum: 500 mhz processor, 96mb ram, 16mb video card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection
Recommended: 800 mhz processor, 128mb ram, 32mb+ video card, Windows 2000/XP, Mouse, Keyboard, Internet Connection

Unfortunately I cannot make payment. I've tried several credit card types as well as PayPal using various browsers. :(

You can try to buy the game inside another internet browser, outside of steam.

go to http://store.steampowered.com/app/70/ and then click, "Add to Cart" on the Half-Life option. :)

Next time you start up Steam, go to your Games tab and voila, it will start downloading.

Thanks uxp, you're absolutely right, however, it seems the issue was to do with me not currently being in the same country that my credit cards are registered. Annoying to say the least.

Anyway, I've purchased Half Life now and it seems to be running fine with the latest CrossOver Games. And for 98 cents (plus 17 tax) it's an absolute bargain. :)
