How do you run these in Windowed mode? I need to do so to be able to see the options menu and change resoltuion... I've seen some stuff about "-windowed" but I don't follow how to use that.
Also lost on registry fixing the fonts?

To run one of the Source-engine games in windowed mode, you add "-window" to the launch options. To set launch options for a Steam game, select it in the game list and click the Properties button. On the Properties dialog, there's a button to set the Launch Options. The launch options consist of a line of text which is passed into the game as it launches.
You've posted in the Half-Life 2 forum. There should not be any issue with missing fonts with Half-Life 2. That's an issue with some other recent games from Valve: Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, and Portal. Our hack is automatically enabled for Team Fortress 2, but the other games came out more recently. You have to enable it for those. Check the forums for those games and I'm sure you'll find instructions.
