Steam Games issues on new Macbook Pro 17"

I have read on a previous thread that there are issues with the new Macbook Pro due to OpenGl support or something like that. My first question is what is the exact problem, what Apple computers does it concern, and when does the CrossOver team think it might implement it in the CrossOver Mac.
My second question is, since I cannot get HL2 games to launch: how can I make them work ?
I have tried the -dxlevel 70 trick with no luck. The strangest thing is that I remember some games launching and actually capable to play them in the past. Do I have to change some settings in the Wine configuration >Graphics tab?
The only game I am now capable to play is the Riot mod for HL2 but the game hangs infinitely when I arrive at a certain point in the game; As if some elements cause the game to crash when they are about to show on the screen.

Thank you for your help,
Charles.

We are working on issues on the new MacBook Pros (we have one in-house). Seems they have switched to the nVidia 8600 chipset in these new models. The nVidia driver in Tiger is horribly busted in many ways. It causes graphic corruptions in many games, and in others it simply locks up.

We hope to have some fixes for 6.2, but from what I've heard from our developers their may not be much we can do until Apple issues an update to this gl driver.

You should try with the options "-novid -dxlevel 81 -console".

Using -console will allow you to get into the game to set video settings. In the advanced video settings, set the shader quality to low. The Nvidia drivers have a problem with the high setting.

After you do that, you should remove "-dxlevel 81" from your options because its presence will cause the game to ignore any previously-saved settings (like low shader quality).

You may keep or remove -console, as you like.

We have had good success with our new MacBook Pro and HL2 once that change has been made.
