As of CrossOver 4.0 this does not work. It starts to load, then crashes back to the desktop. This is because of the incomplete implementation of Direct X 9 in CrossOver.
Bummer.

Jer,
Did you by chance change your directx version in the registory to reflect
7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and try HL2 under each mode? HL2 will/should work with dx 7.0
and higher.
See this nice article : http://gear.ign.com/articles/567/567437p1.html

No, I should give that a try. Would be an interesting experiment. I'll get back to ya on that one.
Ok, most of you say it Half Life 2 does not work. I agree it doesn't work properly. But why does it say it supported on the Codeweavers home page?
I have "Half-Life 2, episode one." I can only get to view a half second of the opening video (a guys face) and the program freezes. I am running Mac OS 10.4.6 with 2 GB Ram on an Intel iMac.
It will be supported for CrossOver 6.0.
Your freeze is a known issue on the Mac. We are working on it. For now, try running the game in "-dxlevel 70" by adding that to the games launch properties.
Hi,
I forgot to mention before, I tried installing the game in my main admin account but it wouldn't install. Next, I had a another account on my Mac (my wife's account). The installation was successful!
Then in Steam (in the"My Games" window), I pasted in the following in "Properties" (clicked on Launch options) for each Half-life game:
"-console -heapsize 512000 -dxlevel 70 -width 1280 -height 800 -novid +cl_drawmonitors 0 +r_shadowrendertotexture 0"
The game works but without sound! Oh, luckly, when i started a new game and waited (and waited) for the screen colors to stop flickering (I presume this is the intro video) I saw the girl and her robot I quick saved the game using F6. Now, I'm able to skip the intro video.
In the game options, I've selected 2 speakers, nothing, then headphones, and still nothing what should I try next?
I've turned on "captions" and other text settings and was able to figure out what to do next with the Anti-gravity gun.
Please help with the sound problems, thanks!
Hi, Any ideas getting the "sound" to work with Half-Life or is this a "known issue?"
There's a workaround on this thread:
