TF2 is really fast but EP2 is really slow. Any ideas why?

dxlevel 81 vs dxlevel 95 most likely.
We switched back TF2 to 81 because multiplayer games need better framerates, whereas EP2 really profits from the better graphics in 95. You'll get the better performance in EP2 and Portal by switching them to 81 manually.
A big performance boost is gained in TF2 by disabling HDR and lowering the resolution. We are heavily fillrate limited in this game. We're working on improving the dxlevel 95 performance too.
Ooh. Okay. Didn't realize TF2 was running 8.1 mode. How do I make EP2 run in 8.1 mode?
