Episode one didn't run as nicely as HL2... But it did run. Here is my shopping list of stuff that could use attention.
- Didn't run at all without -dxlevel 70. Once it made it past the intro (picture with dude and valve in head; then copyright and technology credits -- then nothing), the other times it just would never start.
- Mouse weirdness: if I moved the mouse fast (say to turn around to see which badie was shooting at me) in the game I would turn really slow. Moving the mouse slowly would help, but then what use is that? It is almost as if wine was missing mouse interrupts/polls or could only process so quickly for the game so that it would drop some... This would make your mouse appear to move very slowly when it really wasn't. I tried turning on/off the mouse filter and also adjusting the sensitivity -- neither helped (increasing sensitivity just made it a lot harder to control, but still would do the sporadic slowness thing). Missing interrupts/polls seems to be the problem.
- Once in a while the game will crash (usually audio goes into a loop first, then the game exits). After exiting all steam processes and ending wine, then trying to click on desktop icon for Half Life2: ep1 - I cannot restart the game. I get an error that says: "Error! SteamStartup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,0x0034E064) failed with error 1: The registry is in use by another process, timeout expired." in one of those windows error boxes.
