in case anyone happens to pass by this deserted forum (ha)

has anyone had large graphical errors
that they generally did not receive while playing half-life 2?
(such as texture lighting [problem i had in half-life 2 also] and streaks of color/light that disrupt everything and seem to remove your hud display and reticle whenever they show up)

half-life 2 worked well enough for me to love it all the way through to the end
but episode 1 is killing me.
i'm being hopeful for improvements with crossover 6.1 but maybe someone's figured out something already.

HL2 ep1 uses more high end graphical features than regular HL2. There are bugs with some of them in our DX8 implementation. For now you might be better served running in DX7 mode (-dxlevel 70). 6.1 will have a much improved DX8 and DX9 renderer. We just need to get the thing out the door for our gamers to enjoy.

yeah i'm sure you're getting tired of having to tell us about -dxlevel 70 (which i should have known by now ha) and about the improvements in 6.1, but i'm sure you're doing everything you can to get it rolling for us :]

Very much the case. 😊 I should try to not make 6.1 sound like the second coming, but it does fix almost all of the HL2 graphical issues for me. On my MacBook, the only thing that prevents it from running perfect is that the Intel graphic chip is just slow and lacking features. But at least the game now runs with all the eye candy (sans HDR of course) enabled. I'm positive some of you will still find bugs, you always do.

ha i'm sure we will, but i'm also sure we'll help each other to find solutions.
thanks for your continued help.
