Guild Wars Requirements

I've been attempting to get Guild Wars to run on Crossover 6.2 and nothing has worked thus far. So I decided to look at my technical specs and was wondering if what i have is sufficent to run guild wars. (The specific problem that i am experiencing fyi is that when the zone loads i can hear the sound effects and everything, however the loading screen doesnt go away...)

anyway here is my graphics card: GeForce 8600M GT
(i also just recently purchased my mac (it is a mac book pro 17"))

here are other specs from my hardware overview:
Model Name: MacBook Pro
Model Identifier: MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 800 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MBP31.0070.B02
SMC Version: 1.18f2
Serial Number: W872901HXA9
Sudden Motion Sensor:
State: Enabled

THANKS!!! :D

What type of bottle is Guild Wars installed in? Are you using any command line parameters?

I haven't run with 6.2.0 for a while now (I've been using recent nightlies) but as I documented in the "Known problem collection thread" discussion that Stefan started, when running in a WinXP bottle the game was most stable if I used the parameters "-dx8 -windowed", although there were some graphical issues. Using "-dx8 -windowed -noshaders" resulted in better graphics, but lots of freezeups in some areas.

My iMac has an ATI Radeon card, though, so your experience may differ.

TyLenol: Do you use windowed mode? Anyway keep trying, I think I have the exactly same Mac Book Pro and here Guildwars is fun!!!
Short Term:
use these commandline arguments to run gw:
-dx8 -noshaders -windowed -dsound

Long Term:
Have a look here if "windowed" doesnt say anything to you:

Have fun gaming GW!

Ciao Ephraim

im runnning the game under the parameters (-windowed -dsound -noshaders -dx8) however i have tried it without the -noshaders command and it still didnt work.

(im stupid) so i looked up nightly builds (yay wikipedia) but im still confused :P :P

(also i just discovered that two of my characters (both in Lion's Arch) are able to log in)

The nightly builds are only available to advocates.

Well i am an advocate now, which is great, i didnt know that was an option for codeweavers, but i love it :D cause hopefully the more people that advocate it the faster guild wars will gain support eh :D.

Which nightly build works best for you? I would love to test it out. I just downloaded the newest one 071203 so i am about to test that out, but if a previous one worked better i would love to know :D

Please discuss the nightly builds in the advocate-only forums, not the public ones.

okay ive posted in the advocates forum, but if anyone has any suggestions (other than using a nightly build) that would be cool :D

I am running Guildwars my spec is

Suse10.3
AMD Athlon 1.8Ghz
1Gig Ram
Nvidia Gforce4 MX440
Machine is a few years old but run straight out the box.

I do get little glitches now and then.
It is run in a windows 2000 bottle.
With Crossover HTML engine
Core fonts
Nothing else is used no special dlls...

Dave

It runs on my current model iMac 24" that uses Leopard, but there are mouse bugs in 6.2. Which will not exist in the apparently soon to be released 7.0 😊
A lot of work has been done to support GW, which I am most grateful for.

Will this work for a MacBook with a Intel GMA 950 Graphics card with 2 gigs of ram?

Possibly, on lowest settings, but to be honest the MacBook was not designed for games.

I believe that is mandatory and indisputable for Mac to have fully-functional graphics accelerator to play 3-D stuff at all. Only that way we should expect less bugs as usually. So no matter the anything else like high amount of RAM by a way I truly believe it would be at least 1 Gig.
Thus video card's any ATI or G-force it seems are satisfactory compatible. Therefore avoid of using the Leopard it is pretty raw system that was shared to market not in a proper time (like most of software) that fact indeed gives us a perfect base for discussion. Where did we getting lost our boring free times with no active life as well if couldn't testing of these annoying bug's lol.

Kindest regards
