Guild Wars 2]The best solo profession?

Q:Whats your guys opinion on the best profession to solo with? We all know the holy trinity is now gone. All the professions can solo but which one has the upper hand? I'm going with either Mesmer or Ranger. Ranger due to its pets ( In practically all MMO's the class with a pet always has the upper hand )

and from what i understand the pet can revive you too, Mesmer because well.. it seem they'll be able to do everything quite well with the use of clones. Warriors also has alot of survivability but i don't believe they'll be as good as the ranger due its advantage with pets. so really what is your thoughts on this? perhaps you guys might say any profession can solo & yes they can but which profession do you believe may be better at it.

A:hmm, well the pets be able to also revive you in pvp? but to stay on topic what about the guardian? sort of similar to a paladin or monk. i would think soloing would be a very easy if you make the guardian a hybrid of both offense and defense.

B:My bet is on either the Guardian, or the Necromancer. They both have so many dmg + heal hits that I think they'll be the best for soloing.

C:PVE
pet class soloing ftw always.

PVP
However, lot said that the Thief is well suited for solo pvping. You cant really front line or back line that well. And your surviability is based on surprise so its not a real group thing.

How do you think?

Ok I'll try and answer this as best I can, sorry if its a little out of order.

No pets can't revive you, not in PvE or in PvP, however you or anyone else around you can revive your pet when its in need.

With the Guardian, they aren't really comparable to a paladin or a monk (although my knowledge on paladins is a little weak). The Guardian is, as the name implies, about defending whether that is defending yourself or others. They have the ability to function as a support class which is something the other classes lack, but they still do reasonable amounts of damage. I'm not 100% sure, but I think their natural defence is less than that of the warrior. The guardian also has the spirit weapon mechanic where they can summon sort of ghostly weapons to fight along side them.

When it comes to damage +heal hits all classes have this. When they say they have removed the holy trinity they mean it. Looking at the Elementalist for example, switching to Water attunement with certain weapons gives you access to Area of Effects spells that both do damage to large amounts of foes and heal you and any allies within the effect.

As for soloing there quite honestly isn't a "best" class. Every class has the ability to function well in most situations and the action based combat creates gameplay that is based on skill and how you react to a situation, rather than simply just how effective your skills are.

I definitely wouldn't say that Rangers have any upper hand because of their pets. Necromancers can summon multiple minions to draw attention away from themselves and deal damage. Mesmers can summon phantasms and clones either to distract or to damage. Guardians can summon ghostly weapons. Elementalists can summon elementals based on their attunement to fight alongside them and Guardians can create turrets to deal damage to enemies while they do whatever else the situation calls for.

As for the thief, I didn't get a chance to try them out last beta weekend but from what I hear they're quite powerful. In terms of PvP there isn't really any solo PvP in the game at the moment, while you might find yourself alone against an enemy in world PvP the focus seems to me to be more on working as a team to overcome the opposition.
