Installing GTA V from the Epic Store

So I've picked up that free copy on the Epic Store, and found this video on Youtube explaining how to install it using CrossOver: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bn_Co6cW7a8
I've downloaded Heroic last night, logged in, and started the download. In the middle of the night, I shut my laptop, only to find out in the morning that my 70%-complete download got cancelled. So just a word of advice: don't interrupt the download (:
I am re-trying it tonight, and will report on the rest of the installation tomorrow.

So I've again managed to inadvertently shut the laptop while Heroic was downloading the game, but this time only for about a minute; luckily it resumed after opening the laptop again. Anyhow, I followed the instructions in the above video further, and when I first launched the game, it gave an error: "Unable to launch game, please verify your game data." Without doing anything at all, I tried again, and the game launched, but was stuck at the splash screen loading the game, with the girl in bikini holding up a peace sign. A quick look in the comments on that youtube video provided the solution: launch the Rockstar Game Club through Crossover FIRST, and THEN launch the game through Heroic. This worked like a charm! The game started right up, and I set up the graphics in the menu, but have not actually started the game. More on that later, when I find some time to actually play it!

It works indeed if you launch the rockstar launcher first and then launch from Heroic. However I seem to have many graphics issues when the game runs with Direct X11 enabled in the settings. Switching to direct X 10 seemed to fix some issues. I suppose we are getting less good quality but at least that way it works !!!

Can you describe these graphical glitches? I have not experienced any, but as mentioned, I also haven't really started playing the game: just the intro mission and the first car boost.
EDIT: I guess the reason I haven't seem them is that my game was set to DX10 anyway, which you report to have very few. I only noticed one so far: ocean water flickers at certain angles.

Okay, so I've played for an hour or so, just driving around, and recorded my screen with the FPS counter. There are occasional dropped frames, but in general, cranking on the details to very high did not have any effect on FPS. Only Antialisiang, FXAA, Ambient Occlusion, VSYNC, etc. seem to have an impact on FPS. I also get very poor frame rate when I near the auto salon where you get the missions: many dropped frames and stutters. I will continue playing around with these settings, but if anyone already has and has made a detailed report of what affects gameplay quality most, I would greatly appreciate a link.
That said, the bike boost mission froze the game on me (and then crashed when I CMD+TAB'ed out of it) right after Llamar and I walked past the drunk guy and the pickup truck driving by.

Another try, another freeze/crash. Got as far as picking up the pistol this time, and right before I could, the game froze. If anyone knows what's happening here, please let me know. Memory isn't full according to iStatMenus, if that helps.
EDIT: Yeah, I basically cannot get past this mission, because it freezes at some random point. I saw some people complaining about game freezing after about 30 minutes of gameplay, but for me it's about 5 minutes. I turned everything back down to "normal" in the graphics settings, but that didn't affect the crashing behavior.

So I've found a solution to the crash. You can find it here: https://www.codeweavers.com/support/forums/bettertester/?t=4;msg=247853 (short: quit all other apps!)
Didn't want to repost here, since this thread is more about the installation procedure.
