I hope this helps a GTA fanatic like me
I bought the DVD GTA SA and installed it via crossover games.
The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this program
prevents it from running in CrossOver. If you are in a legal jurisdiction
which allows removal of such software, you may have luck running this
program. Unfortunately, CodeWeavers, because they are subject to the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act, will be unable to support you.
which got the opening screens to start up then crash/close the program. I decided to install the DirectX drivers from the DVD... and the game started.
it was playing very slow and i had heard to turn off some 'shaders and vertex blah blah blah. i tried everything in the "options" part the game. then i lucked into the settings through crossover games:
- in the menu bar under Configure i selected "Manage Bottles.." there is a window that shows the programs i installed. i selected GTA_SA and went to the "control Panel" option on the right and double-clicked "Winecfg". From there i was able to turn off "Allow Pixel Shader" and also change "Vertex shader support" to "none".
All of this made the game run the best on my macbook. i have never played GTA on any other platform so i cannot say it runs it flawlessly, but it no longer lags, and i find it plays as well as my experiences on GTA 3 on the PS2 and both versions on PSP.
I hope this helps others, Good luck
