Garry's Mod crash upon server startup!

This have been my previous error, when I read the compatibility forum, on the medal breakdown, I notice that CrossOver version 9.0, my previous version, is known not to work with Garry's Mod, however, after facing some problem installing CrossOver Games 9.2, I've found that the crashing still persist.

Whenever I start Garry's Mod, it worked like what I always did, but however, when I tried to start a server, even in singleplayer, it will Crash with no error message. The Steam then synchronize the settings.

Could anyone help me with this? I've been facing numerous problems just to start a simple application, but no-one can ever gives me the correct solution. I have Direct Rendering Capability and a very good OpenGL library on my EEE PC 701 4gb netbook.

My project on Garry's Mod:
1) Mech Warrior Imitation: Vulture

Of cause, the only one yet, I'm continuing it in my PC, but no-idea how to get Garry's Mod up and running! DARN IT!

WHY THERE IS NO ONE GIVING ANY RESPOND, I'M FREAKING FRUSTRATED!

Hi,

I imagine you're getting no response here, because you've
asked your question in the wrong forum. When you submit a post
like this, look at the bottom-most note, under The Fine Print:

"Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions
relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application
-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate
Compatibility Center Forum."

Admittedly, not all threads are moved, and a lot of the time these
guidelines aren't strictly enforced...however...not all people read
these general forums ; they only monitor the forums of apps/games
they actually have/are interested in ; it is entirely possible that
nobody who plays/has Gmod even saw this...

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=5494

Post your queries to the forum there ; you may fair better. Oh, if/when
you do post to that forum, please include details of which OS{version}
you are running, along with details of which video card/chipset your
EEE has fitted, and which video drivers you are using.

Cheers!

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for your reply, though it is not related to my questions. I've posted in the compatibility Forum where no-one answered for more than months. I've so frustrated and I do believe you understand how I feel when trying in vain to start Garry's Mod for 10 month with no advancement in the progress.

I can write to you my history of trying:
First Try:
Success, run but slow(too many addon). Until I tried to move in gm_flatgrass, it crashed, that time, I believe its due to enabling Pixel Shader in the Wine Configuration.

Second - Fifth Try:
Tried to Run, waited hours for it, my laptop is crying to sleep, but it keep closing without a word.
Between them, I tried to install Mesa 3D because the OpenGL problem made Garry's Mod won't start. Programs have error creating OpenGL Window, but however, I already had an OpenGL Library.

My Repository(OpenGL[Mesa]):
libgl-mesa-dri 7.0.2-4
libgl-mesa-glx 7.0.2-4
xlibgl-mesa-dri 1:7.1.0-16
xlibgl-mesa-glx 1:7.1.0-16
libglu-mesa 7.0.2-4
libosmesa6 6.5.1-0.6
mesa-utils 6.3.2-2.1xandros1
xlibmesa-glu 1:7.1.0-16

Which I am not sure why they do not work out the first and second attempt of mine to start Garry's Mod

Sixth - Tenth Attempt:
Many problems, not starting(because of not disabling gameoverlayrenderer.dll), Local Steam server not running, Steam start-up error(unable to set attribute), crashes, and all the other things.

From my Eleventh attempt onward, IT KEEP CRASHING WHEN I START SERVER. This pathetically is driving me mad. I am so frustrated than ever. My whole days which I could benefit is wasted trying to fix this freakish crash!

EDIT:
Generally, I'm not a computer expert, so I do not know how to check for system specs and all that, besides that, I'm running a laptop, so if the graphic card and so on requires me to open the casing, I won't take the risk no-matter how save anyone assure.

Here is the information I could dig from the Control Center:

Hi again,

Well that'd be reasonably poor (waiting 10months for a response and getting none)...I'm not even sure I've had gmod for that long, but I do recall swooping on it when it came up on special some time ago, as it seems to be one of those apps which is prone to problems and I wanted to find out why...

....(yes, I grab problem apps because I enjoy the challenge ;)

Okidoki...we'll carry this forward here, I can always have the thread moved later. Thanks for the details of the problem - that helps fill out the back-story...first up, none of those system libs you cited actually jump out at me and say 'all is okay with opengl'...and, being an EeePC, I'm none to sure what things look like...

...could you please run one of the following commands in a console/xterm ;

[if installed system-wide in /opt]

/opt/cxgames/bin/cxdiag --debug

[if installed in your homedir]

~/cxgames/bin/cxdiag --debug

That will output diagnostics to terminal -- look at the last half-dozen lines where it reports what it discovered regarding your opengl libs/driver -- post those last lines back here.

Cheers!

ps: I have actually checked gmod on my system, and the server does start successfully here (although you have to wait for it a bit) on my linux system ; that said, I am running CXG-10...

I did not notice CrossOver has version 10 already, I rarely checked. This is the output:

Sorry if I burst out my frustration at once,I think you understand. I can see there are missing library, maybe if these are needed, not known. For what I know, everytime I restore to factory condition, I had different results. I restore to factory condition because I accidentally did not manage the repository properly, which cause my system to corrupt, showing 0kb/1000mb when there are more than 200mb left.

Thanks for your reply though!

EDIT:
It seems that "libxslt1.1" was installed, but installed libxslt.so.1 or libxslt.so.0. No-way to change.

In my repository, no such keyword "libv4l1", which mean this repos does not exist, maybe another keyword. Libopenal is a sound driver, please tell me is it recommended to install? Libmpg123 is also not found.

The rest are either level recommend or suggest, but I don't bother, busy.... Thanks again

Hmmm...ok....how much system/video ram has the eeepc got?

I'll have to reinstall Gmod and have a close look at the loadout (to see if it's asking for any native dll's that require the missing system libraries)...tell me, do you have any other Source games? Do their server clients start ok?

Cheers!

I think you'll find this is fixed with CrossOver Games 10. If you install CrossOver Games 10 and it's not working, please open a Support Ticket or email info@codeweavers.com.

RAM? I checked it before when I was using XP(1 year ago), it is 516MB or sort. I've run it in XP before, so the system requirement should meet. I have Day of Defeat Source and Portal, but they're rarely updated, in other word, they're outdated till now, my account, I did not play DOD:S, Portal only for 2 hour, but Garry's Mod for 412 hour due to my intensive project.

Steam will lag every second I update games, or anything related to download, so it'll not be possible to update them, Portal has detected 1182mb update(++ with the old one). Any suggestion?

There could be missing dll's libraries, however, I've checked the console output before of Steam, it just output messages related to "ms", maybe connection or sort, but no-error were known during Garry's Mod startup.

Any suggestion?????
P.S: I don't think it is just a "crash" because for what I can conclude, it is exiting automatically than crashing randomly.

Why are you so sure that CrossOver 10 will fix this problem? I'm not doubting, nor having a bad feeling, but I just wanna know of it before I update, too many troubles with things and disc space.

Hi again....what you say here is a trap..."I've run it in XP before, so the system requirement should meet" -- the correct way to interpret this is that your hardware is capable of doing it when using a 'real' Windows kernel and the Windows videocard (and other) drivers. Basically, unless the linux kernel/drivers offer exactly the same performance as the Windows counterparts, you cannot compare (or judge) your system capabilities based on the fact 'it works in Windows'...

...that, sounds like the networking I/O path is jumping the bus (stealing interrupts) ..but I don't quite understand what you mean by Steam lagging when you update games....ie; when a game updates (or begins to), I usually go grab a coffee and/or attend to some email...do something else...I rarely actually use Steam when it's updating, but have never noticed any GUI lag when it is doing this...it may be you just need to explain this a little better =)

..my guess is, this is exactly what Caron noticed here, and I agree - this description matches something Gmod was doing (on some machines) in the Crossover Games 9.x series...iirc, I had beta reports & tickets in on that situation....I would suggest you try Crossover Games 10 and report back on what happens in that version of CXG -- post back those results, noting behavior changes (if any)..

The lag is like whenever it start downloading, after a while, it start to freeze, for about one minute, and there it goes, downloading and active again. A 1 hour download may be extend to 10 hour because of such problem. Maybe more.

This freeze happen only after a while when it downloads, it is frustrating, when I am forced to shut down my Laptop due to certain circumstances, I'll have to force terminate Steam or "kill" the process. That is why, the files downloaded frequently corrupt, making my time to retry starting Garry's Mod to be extended by a lot.

Many of my Steam files corrupt due to this problem. I heard this from peoples at EEE PC Forum before, quote: "You cannot compare your window experience with Linux". I know, but I mean system specs, but not representing Drivers.

I'm trying with CrossOver 10, but the *h**y Steam give a funny error cannot open blob archive. Retrying...

EDIT:
The *****ing thing, I think the directory is corrupt or sort, every time I open the "Steam" folder, it start to jam, and I cannot open any directory in Steam's Folder!
