Hello,

i just installed Counter-Strike: Source and Garry's Mod via Steam. The installation worked fine, but i can't start Garry's Mod and Counter-Strike.

After some seconds the "Preparing" window is closed and nothing happend. I tried it via "Run" and opened the dosdevices/c:/ProgramFiles/Steam/steamapps/name/garrysmod/hl2.exe, but then i just got a "Setup file "gameinfo.txt" doesn't exist in subdirectory "hl2". Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG settings.

Thanks, this fixed the problem.

Now i only need to know how i can start a Steam-Game in a Virtual Desktop. Steam ignores the "Emulate a virtual desktop" settings and without it i have a picture stretched over both monitors. (nvidia twinview).

I can't change the resolution ingame :(

Steam can't "ignore[] the 'Emulate a virtual desktop' settings". That setting affects Wine, and Wine is in control of everything that Steam does.

The issue is almost certainly that you haven't exited Steam after making that setting. If you just close Steam's main window, Steam doesn't exit. It just hides its window and continues to run. It's accessible from its system tray icon. To exit it, you have to select "Exit" from the "Steam" menu.
