Garry's mod run great, but the menu text doesn't show up (and it takes a while to start up, but that's fine). The menus either show no text or just one letter. I've tried going to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\AppDefaults\hl2.exe\Direct3D] and adding -game garrysmod to tf2_alpha_hack but it hasn't helped.
It is quite possible that the tf2_alpha_hack doesn't work, because it relies on a specific pattern that is written into the textures by the game before they are filled with text. Maybe Garry's mod doesn't do that, so the alpha channel fixup doesn't work.
Garry's mod was recently updated to use the new version of the source engine which is used in TF2, Portal and EP2. This version triggers a bug in Crossover that makes the text disappear.
sorry to bump up a post, but have you tried adding ;-game gmod
instead of adding ;-game garrysmod ??
(ps im havin the same problem but havent had time to try to do anything about it)
