"What a quirky little game" he said...
Full Pipe did not display any issues when installed/run via the Steam interface,
however the game requires a native mfc42.dll which is satisfied by installing
the Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Redistributable into the same bottle.
The installation procedure I used was this simple ;
- Purchase the game via Steam using my system's default web-browser (firefox 3.5.x)
- Install the Steam client via the cxinstallwizard builtin target (if not already installed)
- Start the Steam client, login and download/install the Full Pipe software
- Check the 'Show all service packs and dependencies' switch in cxinstallwizard, and install
the Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Redistributable into the same bottle. - Launch the game
Note: I found the following file made for useful reading before playing the game ;
~/.cxgames/[bottle_name]/drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/full pipe/readme.txt
Note: Game is hardcoded to a resolution of 800x600 - if your display hardware is not
capable of this fullscreen resolution (widescreen or 16:9/10 displays), you will
have to enable 'Emulate virtual desktop' in winecfg -- see tips&tricks for help.
Gets a silver straight out of the box - first impressions are this will
change to gold after a bit more gameplay/testing...
Cheers!
