Macintosh inconveniences

The keyboard on the modern macintosh imacs are set up differently to the older kind, making F1 to F6 various controls, therefore forcing you to hold fn whilst playing.

The best remedy is to pick up a second-hand PC keyboard , making sure that it is USB2 compliant. This will free those valuable fret keys. Another remedy is to use the previous-gen keyboard.

Good Luck!

There's a setting in System Preferences, on the Keyboard tab of the Keyboard pane: Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys. Enable that and those keys will send the function key keystrokes to the Windows program. (You would then use "fn" to access the hardware control features of those keys.)
