Gog.com + 2 cd version fails to run on Macbook

OS: snowleopard
System: Macbook Unitbody 2.0 Ghz. Nvidia 9400M.
Crossover 8.1.4

Purchased the game from gog.com today. Installed it in a xp bottle.
Install went fine. Didn't installed adobe acrobat in the first place. (second time i did, but also no effect)
After install i tried to run the game and run the setup, both give a hard crash....

Don. You got it running. Does it also work for you in 8.1.4? Or did you do something else what you did not mention?
In my case it wont run...

I will try 8.1.3 in a moment.

My last actual test was with 8.1.2 but I just retested it with 8.1.3 - same as before,
works fine, no service_packs/runtime_deps required ; installs and runs great with no
additional modifications...a 'true' gold medal.

Well, a true crasher for me though :(
Just tried with 8.1.3 new install. No luck....
Made an xp bottle installed the downloaded installer....after install i exit the launcher.
From the menu i start the game.....CRASH!

I will try to re-download the file.....hope that one maybe works

Nope, crash all the time. Also tried a 2 cd version of the game. Same issue, didn't had to chance to finish the install...installer couldn't end installation because of problem.
So, for Mac osx snowleopard, its a big fat no at the moment.

Have you tried enabling 'Emulate a virtual desktop' is winecfg? I actually
tested this on a Deb 5.0.4 machine with a gf8 card and got the same results -
not quite as quick as the gf9 card in this box, but still no apparent issues
with COG/linux...

Ok i will try that out, had already gave up hope, downloading the game again from my account of gog.
Flatout 2 by the way works on my macbook with no problem (slow though, but then again i should adjust settings).

Nope; no chance: Will open a support ticket for this one.

Ok its not working on the Mac, thats final at the moment....see Jacks reply on my support ticket.

It looks like it's definitely a Mac-related issue. I installed the game with no problems on my Fedora Linux machine, fired it up, and played a few races with no problems. No tweaks or modifications were needed.

I then installed on my iMac (a new, pretty powerful one) - the installation appeared to unfold in the same exact manner, but the game refused to launch, throwing a wine error each time. Additional tweaking had no effect. The log files I generated with a launch attempt were pretty cryptic, as well - we in the support department are log-file novices. I think you'll need to find a Mac-based wine hacker to take an interest in this game to get it going.

Cheers,
Jack

Hi Paul,

It would actually be useful if you would consider a small regression
test here please? -- I'm currently chasing an issue in linux, and
this sort of behavior here may be related ; it'd be nice to know
if it is or not. You would need to....

start with a fresh install of COG-7.2.2 and flatout - does it work?
if it does, continuing upgrading COG until you hit the point where it stops working
post results back here at your convenience

Cheers!

When installing 7.2.2. it gives an error that it couldn't download the key file. So i switched back to 8.1.4.
