FYI: BootCamp

Just in case anyone is actually trying this under BootCamp (Yeah, off topic, but trying to be helpful ;) )

on my iMac, with fully patched Win 7, both the Benchmark and the game itself failed to launch. This was because of some missing video driver files. After going to the manufactuer's website (mine is an ATI Mobility 2600), I installed the full driver set and everything is working without issue.

(well, not "without issue" it's taking FOREVER to patch!)

p.s. iMac aluminum, Core 2 Duo @2.40 GHz and 3 GB ram. ATI radeon mobility 2600. Windows Experience Rating of 5.8

FFXIV benchmark gives this a rating of about 750. Yes, seven hundred and fifty. According to that, not only is this computer considered below specification for the game, but is simply complete and utter crap.

Around the net, even some rather beefy boxes are rated only in the 2500-3000 range, or "Capable of running on default settings". Personally, aside for general tinkering and compatibility, I'd end up going with the PS3 version, not PC :D

p.p.s. For FFXI, the same computer is rated 8100 on "low" and 5500 on "high"
