Anyway at all to get this to work on Mac?

Has anyone found a way to get this to work on Mac?

Or could someone explain how to implement this suggestion?

"Obtain winetricks.

Perform the following:

WINEPREFIX=~/.cxoffice/<bottle> winetricks d3dx9 devenum ie8 quartz wininet winhttp xact_jun2010 wmp10

Where <bottle> is the name of the directory which your FFXIV prefix resides."

Do I create a wrapper with those winetricks? What is the wineprefix thing and how to I 'perfrom' this?

I would be so grateful to anyone who can help, this is the only online game I feel is worth a damn playing right now and I have really fond memories of FFXI. I cannot afford to go buy a PC just for this game either.

RIght now I get to the game client and it gives me this error, "Unable to complete version Check."

It might be hopeless for me trying to get this work being the wineskin noob I am but this game is worth it.

Nothing you did wrong if you got to that point. The only way past that point is to have a windows install update the game in windows and then copy the files to your bottle. I had the same issue and that is how I got around that issue.

Even though this is for linux, check out this entry on the forums.

Squeenix is releasing a native Mac client in June, with the Heavensward expansion.

It should be noted that although the game is cross-platform, each -client- needs its own license. You will need to purchase the Mac client, or CX with the Windows client. (Either way, your characters remain the same across platforms.)

Actually its not a native client. Its a wrapper created by Transgaming. They used to provide their technology (for a fee) for Linux users but discontinue to do so.

Transgaming? sigh Doesn't that just make baby Jesus cry? Never did care for the quality of their product.

Let me rephrase then: An officially supported Mac version is due. :/
