Hello!

I'm running Crossover Games 8.1.4, and have FFXI fully updated and everything. Managed to get all the other settings working properly through registry editing, but I cannot figure out how to change to the compact keyboard setup since when FFXI Config launches it just displays blank with buttons for "OK" "Help" and "Default" at the bottom - no actual options are displayed and I can't change anything, just grey and those buttons. So I can't change the keyboard setting through the standard FFXI config and need another way to do so.

Is there a way to change keyboard setting to compact either in-game or through the registry?

There is an option in game to switch to the compact keyboard. It is under the Misc 2. menu option under config:

From (8.1.0 Mac (Linux users please test this for me)) Thread:

Misc.2: 
- Clipping Plane and Animation Rate can be turned all the way up to Max 
- Set your aspect ratio as needed 
- Keyboard Type, Mac users you have to set this to [Compact] since Apple makes the Numpad number only it can't be used to control your character.  When you select compact it will show you the button configuration, if you don't like the settings you can change them under... 
- Key assignment use whatever settings you prefer here.  I leave the WASD for movement and arrows for camera.  I actually just use the W and control my character with more accuracy using the camera controls.
