Basically this bug but with a black screen and still happening on the latest Crossover 20.0: PlayOnline Red Screen on Mojave
PlayOnline installs fine, starts and updates itself - all with visible graphics - and after the update comes back running but with a black screen.
EDIT disabling "Performance Enhanced Graphics" fixes the issue with the downside of reduced performance
In this kind of issue, I would try to install DXVK.
I'm actually getting stuck at the first bit of the installer for FFXI where it checks space requirements. As soon as it hits that screen it just freezes up and I have to force close is to do anything else. Anyone else had this or have any ideas about what the problem might be?
You can continue to use Performance Enhanced Graphics but only if you set PlayOnline Viewer to launch in full screen. If it starts in windowed mode it will appear black, but when it can use the entire display it works fine.
(Just noticed I was in fact the person who commented above about being stuck during the installer, lol) So in other news....still getting stuck on the actual step where it tries to install FFXI and compute space requirements. In fact that window totally freezes, the cancel button doesn't work and I have to force close it to get rid of it. I've left it for quite some time and nothing ever happens.
It does eventually work, it just takes..... forever.
