Brief guide to installing FFXI on CrossOver 14

Recently got FFXI working on Mac. During the setup I found that most of the guides and threads are somewhat out of date and didn't address the specific issues I ran into. Here's the method that ended up working for me in case it helps anyone.

Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.4
CrossOver 14.1.4

  1. Forget about using old CDs. Download the Ultimate Collection: Seekers Edition from http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/install_win.html

  2. Move the 4 files to a brand new folder. It should otherwise be empty except for those 4 files.

  3. Create a new Windows 7 Bottle

  4. Install "Core Fonts" and "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0" into your new Bottle from the application installation wizard. You don't need to download anything as CrossOver will do so automatically.

  5. Now for the actual installation. In the application installation wizard:
Select application to install = "Other Application"
Select an installer = choose the FOLDER where you placed the FFXI files. Just picking the EXE will not work.
Select a bottle into which to install = the new one just created

That's it. The FFXI installer decompresses itself before the installation so you'll need about 16GB of free space during the process.

I'm trying this right now on 14.1.11 on Ubuntu 14.04.

I'm trying to follow the guide here http://exodus-ffxi.wikia.com/wiki/Installation_Guide, but I;ll try out your tip if it doesnt work!

Also works on CrossOver 15 and Mac El Capitan

To install on CrossOver 16... Follow the post at the top. Then run the installer via wine explorer.exe it's in the windows folder if you browse the c drive.

On 16 and 16.1 under your bottle settings turn off "Performance Enhanced Graphics"

Is this process easy? I am not very good with computers, so I am wondering what all i would need and if I should even attempt to do this. I am on aMacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013) OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. Any help is greatly appreciated.
