Sorry for taking so long. Please tell me in detail how you try to install Fate. Demo or not it should work just fine.
I have the same issue. I downloaded the game from wildtangent, went into crossover configuration, chose the unsupported application, found it in my download folder, and tried both a windows xp and windos vista bottle. neither work. I get an error message that says that fate is already running on my computer.
