Far Cry 3 Forum

I installed the game but the following error prevents play:

"FC3UpdaterSteam.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close"

If anyone knows any tricks to get it working I am all ears I would love to play. I am playing Skyrim no problems but for some reason FarCry3 is having issues.

http://steamcommunity.com/app/220240/discussions/0/846939615047538853/ suggests trying to run the Far Cry 3 .exe directly with a switch to bypass the Steam updater program.

Using Crossover Run Command https://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/run_only pick the Steam bottle containing FC3, then browse and go into drive_c/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Far Cry 3/ and pick the farcry3_d3d11.exe file.

Back in the Run Command window go all the way to the end of the text it the Command: field and outside the double-quotes enter -uplay_steam_mode

So the Command: text would look something like

(blah blah path in bottle)/farcry3_d3d11.exe" -uplay_steam_mode
