CrossOver Games 9.2.0, OSX 10.6.5, nothing happens after launching Fallout 3 GOTY from Steam

I'm rather confused as to why this has a silver medal since I've tried the tips to get it installed and no matter what the game simply does not launch. Specifically I followed Jack's "CX Games 9 Alternate How-to," since the other tips looked as if they weren't relevant any longer.

I am using the GOTY version and when I launch it I get the Fallout 3 launcher, but when I hit play nothing else happens. The launcher just disappears and that's that. The game never loads.

It would help if there was some more step-by-step information since at least two of the listings under Tips & Tricks are out of date and reference older versions of CrossOver. Has anyone got this working to a level indicative of a silver medal and can explain what they've done? Otherwise I'm simply lost.

Thanks a lot.

Hi I am having the exact same problem with the GOTY retail version. Everything installs nicely but I cannot even launch the game to start the windows live disable. I would also greatly appreciate an updated step by step instruction to begin playing this game. Thank you.

Hey guys. The tips and tricks listed there are relevant. I will update my tips and tricks to mention they are fine with 9.2 as well. However, with that said, I don't use mac, I run linux. I can't say one way or the other if it works with a mac, however I know there are some mac users that have got it working. As for the crash that you guys are running into, try installing DirectX modern from CXgames into your fallout 3 bottle and see if that helps.

I haven't tried it with 9.2.1 yet as I have been working on getting CXgames working with puppy linux so I have been a bit preoccupied with it. Since one of you are running it from steam, then you will want to follow the tips from Jack as I don't have it on steam. It is possible that the newest update has broken the game, once I get puppy up and running I will try to let you know.

I didn't see anything in the tips section specifying that it was only for the Linux version, so I assumed it was relevant for both. I'll try installing DX Modern, although doesn't the Steam install add that already?

It would probably be a good idea to specify if a tip is confirmed to only work in OSX or Linux, or even what OS it's been attempted under. I know this is a community effort and it's hardly just this one game that suffers from confusing and/or outdated information, however.

Same issue here. ☹️ Installed via Steam. 2011 MBP. Not sure if the new gpu could be causing the problem.
