C4P file.

OS: Snowleopard
Graphics: Nvidia 9400M

THis c4p file will install Fallout 3.
The game contains no cd copyprotection, so should run right out of the box.
I tested version 1.0 (DVD version) and that one works right away, no fallout.ini file adjustment needed.
Game runs quite smooth, good sound and FX, but has already mentioned in the forum no music.
I didnt noticed it either before "Tortured Utopian" said so. For me its far than a problem, but this makes the game
not run flawless as native windows.

I got a "bar" in the top when starting the game.
I can fix that by deslecting "vertical sync" in the options.

So i rate this gold because it runs including sound although there is no music. Because if you not know it, you dont miss a thing.

[edit] I rate this silver, because after the level "valve 101" it crashed randomly(very often) in the wasteland and also the graphics are getting messed up.
Tried many things (register and stuff), no fix for that at the moment...:(

Have fun!

Thanks for the effort !

That's already pretty satisfying, even with no music. I guess this issue will fix itself automagically with a subsequent wine release.

I'm very sensitive to music, it's always played a major role for me, even in a movie or in a game 😊

This is nice, however with an update, which is actually necessary for all the crashes and bugs that were in the original release even some show stoppers, also if you want the expansions the patch is necessary, and with that you will need the Games for Windows Live disable or the game with crash on start. Not sure what were gonna do about this, I'll have to try to make a C4P myself for the Game of the Year Edition of Fallout 3.

I didnt experience any crash yet in 1.0, and i am really satisfied whats here yet, however the update stuff will be probably fixed in future releases of crossover. But what you can do to speedup things, is to make an support ticket for this issue. make screenshots and a crashlog. This way they can make work of this.

Cheers!

Update to the newest patch.

Yup updated to the newest patch, and still crashes. has to do with this bug.

This thread refers to a c4p file that I can't locate to install. Has it been taken down? If not, can someone post a link to the current c4p file for F3?

Thx

I'll try too look into it when i get a chance. There is a closed beta we have to work through at the moment.

Amy info on the C4P or a CrossTie we can use on this? or at a minimum a list of support packs the C4P installed?

My apologies. Between work and life I have had little time to work on crossover stuff of late. If you follow the tips & tricks to install Fallout 3 it should work fine. I'm assuming you have the disc versions of the game.
You should be able to install the game directly from the disc without much fuss. If you do not have the Game of the Year Edition but have the expansions they should install fine as well. If you don't have the GOTY then you will need to get the patch which you can find on the tips and tricks section. You will need to install direct X modern and make sure you install all of this into an XP bottle. Once that is done try to run the game, it will fail so you will have to manually kill the application. On Linux you can open up your system monitor and kill Fallout.exe. It might be easier to run the application in an emulated desktop through the settings in wine/crossover. Once that is done you will need to run games for windows live (get it from tips and tricks) then run it and disable G4WL, you can either install it or just run it in the same bottle as your installation for it to work. Then try to launch it again. As long as you have a powerful enough system you should be fine.

Where is the C4P file for this game? I have the GOTY edition, and have never gotten it to work, so... plz upload the C4P file or the Crosstie.

Thanks

This thread mentions there being a C4P file...but I don't see it. Where can I get it? I've got the DVD of the GOTY.

Hmm I read that this game requires .NET 3.0 for its launcher to work. Unfortunately, installing .NET 3.0 does not work atm in neither version 11.3 nor 12 beta. Version 12 however does come with wone-mono which is supposed help apps requiring .NET to run. Prepare a bottle with Visual C++ runtimes 2005 and 2008, then try to install the game. See how it works.

Turns out that not being able to install .NET 3.0 is a non issue. The launcher works fine with wine-mono in CX 12 beta. To get the game running though requires using some shady dll trickery. It's better explained in the winehq AppDB entry how-to. Why they felt the need to add that awful "games for windows live" cr**ware eludes me.

Getting it to run is the least annoying part. For me it constantly crashes now that I managed to enter a house. Tried editing the FALLOUT.INI file and adding the suggested fixes for that type of crash and it did not work. Meh.

If it's any consolation to you peeps it crashes on my Win 7 install to (yes. even after applying all kinds of fixes). Less often but still enough to make me rage. I uninstalled it. Buggy POS :/
