To play the game, using the DRM-Free GOG.com version, Use the setup.exe file for Fallout 3 provided by GOG.com and Install. The game should run at a 4/5 star rating.
To Install, set the Bottle to a Windows 7 32-bit setting.

It works but is very slow, like 10 fps.
I have MBA M1 16GB.
Do you know if there's a fix?
If you are using an Intel Iris graphics card, there may be lagging issues. There isn’t much you can do besides minimize and then maximize the game window.
Very low frame rate for me as well. Mac Studio M2 Max, 32GB RAM, latest macOS Sonoma and Crossover version.
Audio is fine now with the fix, but the frame rate is abysmal. Using 1080p maximum settings.
Are there any known issues with Fallout 3's options that tank the frame rate?
Fallout 4 runs fine maxed out 3440x1440.
Same low FPS issue for me, on MacBook Air M1 w/ 16GB RAM.
So far with some testing, this is what I have found
Issues have arisen involving Apple Silicon based macs. The game may not open or have considerable lag in which frame rates are 10 to 15 frames per second.
Some resolutions to this are
1) Install Fallout 3 GOTY as a Windows 7 Bottle (Only possible with the GOG.com version)
2) Make sure to perform The Bethesda Audio Override
3) If neither of these work, hang on, there may be fixes on the way!
