.NET Framework 3.0? [Solved!]

In the CX Games 9/10 Alternate How-to Tip in Tips & Tricks, it says to "Install .NET 3.0 into a brand new bottle. You’ll find .NET 3.0 in the “Runtime Support Components” section of Crossover Games’ Install Software menu."

However, I cannot find .NET 3.0 anywhere in the list of installable software in Crossover 11. How do I accomplish this?

you can see the compatibility details of .NET 3.0 here: http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=3356
Note that it's marked as "known not to work" - that's why it doesn't appear in your list of applications to install.

you might have some luck with .NET 3.5 service pack 1 - AFAIK it contains .NET 3.0 as well as 2.0 etc as part of it's installation.

one more thing - I notice you've had some trouble getting help for this game. You might find that wine's appdb entry for this game is helpful. It's targeted at linux users, and they do some things quite differently (wineprefix is managed by bottles), but if you can translate the meaning of what they're trying to do then I think you'll have more luck. They have a full step by step, up to date install process.

feel free to post back here or PM me if you need some help with the steps. Unfortunately, I have the DVD version of the game but no DVD ROM, so I can't test it out myself.

Success! I installed .NET Framework 2.0 along with Service Packs 1 and 2 instead of .NET 3.0...and it worked! After following all the other instructions in the Tip, the game finally launched for me.

Additional bonus: Full-screen mode seems to work fine, so using a virtual emulated desktop isn't necessary.
