Issue create a new game.

I've followed the instructions in the tip and tricks as best I could. The only thing I was hung up on was when it tells you to download and install Windows Live but it won't install for me and already installs with the game. It will pop up and give me three options and two of those are grayed out. The only option available is to remove it but after I hit remove I still won't have the option to reinstall. Also the person that posted the tips and tricks is a little confusing, he says to "Do steps like above but choose this downloaded package." As far as I can tell from that is to install but not click unsupported apps but to choose one of the packages from the list which isn't there. SO I decided to skip that step and I've gotten the game menu to load but then freezes half way through creating a new game. I then tried to download another persons saved game and load that but it still freezes. The only thing I can think of is to install that Live program before installing Fallout but if anyone has any other ideas please help me out.

I have the same problem too. The game works well until i choose the new game option. Then it start loading and finally freezes (expet the music).
The Taskmng's said that Fallout 3 it's not responding.

In winiehq.org some people report that it work's only if you install and patch the unstable wine version, and made the same steps that you can find in Tips & Tricks section

Did you try setting this value in Documents/My Games/Fallout3/Fallout.ini ?
bUseFaceGenHeads=0

This prevents rendering of characters heads and supposedly helped a lot of folks on Linux.

I got a little farther with this set (like through the intro movie) but the game still crashes very quickly (for me).

Also you should try the following registry entries:
"DirectDrawRenderer"="gdi"
"OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo"
"PixelShaderMode"="enabled"
"SoftwareEmulation"="enabled"
"UseGLSL"="enable"
"VertexShaderMode"="hardware"

At WineHQ they also mention the following could be helpful, but clearly these do not apply to most macs. Does anyone know what would be the windows driver equivalent here for the card in the Macbook Pro (ATI 1600 something right?)
"VideoDescription"="NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT"
"VideoDriver"="nv4_disp.dll"
"VideoMemorySize"="512"

Yep you was right, bUseFaceGenHeads=0 help a little bit. Now i can watch the intro movie and then it just crash.
Maybe it's the movie itself. I'll keep trying and see what can i found.
