Current Status: Playable

Just wanted to put a clearer subject on this posting.

Evil Genius is playable under Mac OS, and it seems like under Linux, as of version 7.1.1 with special instructions, or the unsupported 7.1.2 version without anything beyond a NOCD crack.

Under 7.1.2:
Install Evil Genius
Download 1.01 patch and install it (From Evil Genius Home Page)
Download the NOCD crack for 1.01 version and install it (You know how to find it)

SAVE OFTEN the game has a tendency to crash around cut scenes.

Under 7.1.1:

It is possible to get this game running if you replace two .dll
files in the windows/system32 folder in the bottle you have
installed the game into. The two files that need to be replaced are
quartz.dll and msvcrt.dll. You can find the native versions of these
files on the internet.

The no-cd patch is still required but the other two problems you
mention disappear.

I tried and did everything you said, and well, it installs but it doesn´t really work. the load screen works but after this, the screen goes black and the game crashes.
do you have any idea where the problem is?

Evil Genius doesn't work with Crossover 7.2. Make sure you're using the 7.1 series if you'd like to play it.

WineHQ says that you need to use the native versions of quartz.dll and msvcrt.dll to play with the current version, but I haven't gotten that to work yet.

Yep, figured it out. It works with 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 but not with 7.2.... Very strange though.
Do you have any idea how to stop all these crashes. After around 5 minutes of gameplay the game seems to randomly crash. Of course quicksaving is a good point and i use it quite frequently but still, it is annoying.

by the way i didn´t need the special .dll files.

thanks,

Unfortunately, at present, no. Consulting WineHQ, it seems the root cause of the crashes is a memory leak, which has a download speed like rate of several kbps. This speeds up rapidly around cut scenes, hence the tendency to crash when special events happen.

Expect this to be fixed in future releases of Wine/Crossover, but for now, it's just something we need to live with.
