EQ and COG 9

Has anyone tried this yet? If so any comments good bad or indifferent?

Mouse look is a little tweaky (mouse keeps traveling out of the window), but otherwise it appears to work just fine.

My experience is that everything works fine except that I cannot run it in windowed mode. The minute I change from full screen, the graphics go wonky. Black background and old style big block graphics that sort-of look like words. I am backing down to 8.1.4 and staying there until another crossover comes out. I am running a first generation Mac Pro Intel box. In 8.1.4 I get random crashes but I would rather deal with that than not being able to play in Windowed mode.

Does EverQuest support starting up in windowed mode? If so, that may avoid the wonky graphics. Often such problems are triggered by the switch between modes, rather than a particular mode.

Also, you can try using the Wine Configuration (winecfg) control panel to enable the use of a virtual desktop window.

to answer Ken's question, yes, absolutely. it's how i've ran EQ for most of my COG/EQ life...

i've always ran it in window mode, i can't stand not having access to my other apps while playing. if there's one thing i've learned about Everquest is that no matter what anyone does, its execution is anything but consistent. i remember the first few times i went to switch from full screen to window mode. lots of crazy things happened, including crashing my system. then on the third or fourth attempt it worked. if memory serves me correctly, the one change i did make was i manually altered the main ini file to start and run in window mode... my theory, i think it has a hard time making changes to its own ini files, i had the same problem when i ran it on my PC, before i switched to my iMac.

in my eqclient.ini file i changed the WindowMode to true so... WindowedMode=TRUE if you open the file in TextEdit and can't find it i think you can simply add it in anywhere. there might be a second ini file to alter as well. i believe one manages the initial logon screens and the other manages your actual game play. i also found that resizing the game window messed things up unless i did it though manually altering the ini files... there are other posts that talk about this that have many more details than i can supply at this time. i'd recommend you search for them and also in the Linux section.

hope that helps point you in the right direction 😉

Works for me with EtNInstaller.exe and a downloaded d3dx9_30.dll.
Station Launcher installs, but crashes when launched.

However some Mobs seem to be invisible - anyone with the same issues ?
(f.e. Horses, familiar's are invisible)

And i have some graphic glitches.

Has anyone good experience with the Station Launcher?

Running on a MacBook Pro 5.5 | Intel Core2 Duo 2,26 GHz | 4GB RAM | NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
