After today's EQ patch (5/15/2024) the framerate dropped significantly. I'm getting maybe 5-6fps. Nothing has changed on my system other than todays EQ patch. It used to be very smooth, very high FPS. Now it takes a noticeable amount of time for any mouse clicks to register, or any keys to respond. Like clicking on a spell to cast it, or pressing 'I' to bring up the inventory window there's a small, but very noticeable delay. It's practically unplayable.
Autofollow simply doesn't work because of the lag. If the person you're autofollowing takes a turn, EQ graphics don't seem to be able to keep up with it, and you end up going in circles and getting stuck behind objects like trees or walls.
There's also other threads in this forum complaining about different issues, which I believe probably started when EQ started using DirectX 11. I can't verify that for sure, I was on hiatus when that change was made.
It happens in both full screen and in Windowed mode.
Looking in activity monitor, it only shows about 40% cpu usage. This is a Macbook Pro M1.
I paid for the new version of Crossover (24, upgrade from 22) in hopes it would fix the problem; it didn't. I've tried reinstalling, no luck. All advanced settings are off. I've tried Windows 7, 10 and 11 compatibility under Wine Configuration. I think since it's something introduced with the patch, there's nothing on my end I can do to fix it; I think a crossover dev is going to have to take a look.
