Everquest finally running on M1 Macs using the new 64bit client

Everquest finally upgraded their client to use 64bit. On Test Server this has already been pushed - so today i used a nightlybuild (Version 2120220105 (21.1.0.33885)) and created a 64bit Windows 10 bottle (would not work in the default windows 7 bottle).

So installed EQ from scratch, copied over my old Everquest folder so i didn't have to download the 10+ GB in size and the game works fine.
No excessive loading time, no hickups, no gfx glitches or anything.

This was tested on M1 Macbook Air with 8 GB.

Also tested the new 64bit client on a Intel Macbook Pro - had to change the bottle to Windows10 64bit again but works great otherwise.

I did the same and WOW the performance is night and day. I was hoping this would fix the slowdowns and boy did it. This took my M1 Pro from a “I guess I can log in a third box to open tasks that require 3 toons” to wanting to 3 box. If only I could get Multiplicity to work.

Did you get Gina to work?

That's where i struggle with most. And yep - Multiplicity is another of those nightmares that just won't work.

Is there a way to patch the 64bit client and connect to live servers? :D

Naw, the patcher swaps a few files including the .exe when you change from Live to Test. I recall them saying the server and client both needed to be on 64bit which is why they weren’t supporting people migrating as those choose. We’ll just have to wait until February.

I haven’t tried GINA yet. I’m still kind of new to Crossover, but my gut tells me all of the fancy overlay text stuff won’t work, but maybe the audio triggers would. As for installation, if you can install it in the same bottle and run two apps from the same bottle, that might get you somewhere.

Chiming in for additional confirmation. Post-64bit client update, EQ is running well on my M1 Macbook Air, running Monterey 12.2.1. The 32bit client crashed or had UI issues when it loaded. So far, so good.

How is performance? Do you hear your Mac's fan ramp up and get very hot to the touch?

I own the 14 with 10/16/16 - temps are about 50ish Celsius. Not audible - chasis feels more cold than warm.

Excellent performance all around with all settings turned on.

I successfully am running EQ with Crossover, however it seems if I hold right mouse click to look around, my mouse will move off the screen etc, is there any fix to this anyone has found yet, or is this an isolated circumstance?

I’ve just found this software and forum. I was specifically searching for something that will allow me to play EQ on my MacBook Air (M1, 2020, 16 gb). Any updates? Is this still working well? Anyone able to play on a live server?

I've been trying to set this up on my macbook air m1 8gb with no luck. i get an error when it tries to install dx10 and then i just get a white screen instead of the eq launcher once i get to the launch stage.

Any suggestions? :)

Where did you download the 64bit installer from? I still get the 32bit from the regular download link.

Thanks!
