Woops, /me broke this.
Ironically, the patch that apparently broke the game was intended to reduce memory usage and thus stabilize games, especially Half Life 2 based ones which create hundreds of megabytes of vertexbuffers.
There's another game that was broken strangely by this patch - Crysis crashes during the intro videos. I've looked at Crysis for a while, but couldn't find a explanation for this behavior. Its only possible that the game has some bugs that were hidden by the old behavior(e.g. accessing vertex buffers without locking them)
Has this been fixed yet? I'm missing EQ2 and would be willing to test a work-around.
As I dont own CO Games 9 I have not tested with that.
But I have tested new wine versions as thay come and EQ2 is still broken in all 1.1.19+ versions.
Although it is posible it is diffrent regressions for diffrent versions of wine.
Sins the wine development just keep running like a train without breaks and dont fix all bugs before moving on to a new version and introducing more bugs,
it is unfortunatly likely that it will never run in a higher version than 1.1.18. :(
Hi,
Grab the demo of crossover-games then -- it's the full version, just time limited.
As for wine...see;

Cheers!
Ok good news.
Just got an update on 2 of the bugs that keept wine 1.1.19+ from running EQ2.
It now seams to be fixed in latest git source as of now. And hopefully it will make it in to wine 1.2 final. (and I then presume next version of CO Games aswell :)
(How good the game now runs for me, with the current git source of wine, it feels like a platinum rating to me :)
Thank you for the info...I will look for a Crossover version that uses WINE 1.2
