Does this still work?

I've downloaded this three or four times now and when I load into the game I get a blocky screen with a bunch of tearing. I'm unable to play or load into the game. I'm on a late 2016 MacBook Pro with Touchbar and the most recent Crossover. I'm testing Crossover right now and would happily buy it if there was a workaround for EQ II. Any help would be appreciated. And, yes, I've tried all of the "Tips & Tricks."

Using the daybreak client, this should work without anything else. You might want to play with the enhanced graphics, but that depends on the system that you are using.

Recently, as in the past couple of weeks, my EQ2 install no longer works. I double-click the EQ2 icon and it processes for several seconds and the quits. Anyone else having this sort of issue? I have no other crossover apps installed and this is all that I use it for...

TIA for any help or suggestions.

Same is happening to me.

I'm having the same issue. It's been a few weeks. I've reinstalled EQ2 a number of times. I've completely removed and reinstalled CrossOver... no change. Must be something new in the launcher that checks the OS ver and quits?

I believe the issue is that the crossover was set to configure the system as windows XP. EQII changed their requirements so it does not support Windows XP and blocks it from runnning if Win XP is discovered. Try setting up a new container with a later version of windows and download the installer from the website.

Hi Stephen,

I can confirm that EQ2 works on Crossover 17 beta on my 2015 iMac. I understood the production release would be out by end of August (I'm not aware what happened to their estimated release schedule, must be adding something in or fixing something), but as soon as Crossover 17 comes out you should be able to reinstall EQ2. If you use the wizard you should install in a new Win7 bottle. In the beta I still got an error on the old HTML engine (not needed in win7 anyway) and one of the two DirectX installs (I believe it was the directx web). However, I closed setup, ran it again from the CX 17 beta wizard (install An Application), and it picked up where it left off and working--now this is in the Crossover 17 Beta so issues like this are to be expected. I'm sure the final release of CX 17 will have a cleaner bottle setup.

For your own sanity (as I was going bonkers too!), I just wanted to let you know that I was relieved to find out EQ2 should work in CX17 as it IS working in the CX17 BETA.

I checked the Codeweavers Crossover download link this morning and it still shows 16 is the current release, so 17 must still be in Beta. I thought CX17 was coming out end of August? I guess not...

Temporary fix: If you're joining to get in game and CX17 isn't out yet, I have tested an install with XQuartz 2.7.11 and WineHQ-Staging 2.15 on my MacBook (CX17beta is on my iMac) to test and this works instead of CX. Once CX17 production comes out you can upgrade your edition and should be good to go.

Anyhow, I hope that leaves you with a bit of peace of mind. As an old school EQ2 player, I know I was beginning to loose faith too. Cheers!

Can any of you test if it is really working on macbooks that have only the integrated intel graphics ?

Mine has íris 5100 and eq2 never worked, it installs and runs but the screen is a complete mess.

I stopped upgrading crossover mac at version 15 because there was no point... it never worked.

Unfortunately, as far as I've seen (and someone please do let us know if you've been successful), the MacBooks with Integrated Graphics are a no-go. I've only seen it working with Discrete Graphics cards.

So just wanted to make sure that everyone knows this does work on both integrated and the Discrete Mac's

Integrated Tested on: MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014) / Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Discrete: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2017) / Intel HD 630 and Radeon Pro 555

This is in the latest Bottle for 18.0.0 - Updating the CrossTie Now to make sure it works (2018-10-22).
