Crucible 1.5 update breaks EVE under Crossover

Hello.

Using Cxgames 10.0.3 I updated EVE with the Crucible expansion released today.
All went fine, new launcher displays, creates the patch and tells me it's ready to play.

But when I click "Play", it displays the splasch screen, and then a box indicating "Abnormal program termination".

I upgraded to Crossover 11 but to not avail, same punition.

Quite annoying, to say the least :)

Does anyone managed to make the new expansion work under Crossover ?

Ubuntu Linux 11.10
Nvidia 260GTX

Exactly the same issue here.

And because of the launcher we can't download the patch manually from http://community.eveonline.com/patches/patches.asp 😥

Ubuntu 11.10
Nvidia GT430

Fly not too safe o/

Manually patching would do no good, patching went smoothly.
Game breaks after, at launch.

Anyway I exported the patch so if anyone need it I can upload it.

Already some solutions on https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=933532 for those who use Wine for free..

Crossover being based on wine this should also work for us.
Since CX 11 is based on wine 1.4 some of those fix should work.

Best approach would be to test & experiment and then implement this in an updated Crosstie.

No time for me to work on that but may try.

Cheers

To change the "buildin, native" from msvcr100 i had to install Wine 1.3, which did not solve the problem. It seemed to be in conflict with Crossover as nothing happen when launch eve.exe, or repair.exe or Exefile.exe - from the file, the desktop shortcuts or Crossover launcher -.

Then uninstall Wine.

Back to:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe
abnormal program termination

Finally found the dll in /.cxgames....EvE/bin. Now wondering how to change "buildin, native" as it seems to make it working "better" for some people in the two Linux relative threads below

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=80447&p=2

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=79999&p=4

Any idea ?

Manage bottles. Find the winecfg correspondant in the menus(configure or something) or do Run application select eve bottle and run winecfg. I uninstalled my Eve-online bottle since it didn't work. But it was a really old one. I dunno if we have to install vcrun2010 (I did try before removing the bottle and it didn't work).
I don't own 11.0 I'll try the trial and let you know tonight.

Hello,

Thanks for the trick 😊

1-I did reverse builtin & native for msvcr100, no change (Error R6034)
2-Then reverse as well for msvcr90, 80, 71, 70, all the one i could find.
3-Launch eve.exe throught Crossover gives this:

So now i feel a bit better cause this looks like the same issues everyone have on the forums :D

Time format ?
Python thing ?

/me go back to read some new tricks

Hi again,

[link=https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=938224#post938224][/link]

Ok Eve players...here is how i login.

Re-download, Wipe Eve 349998, Re-install the new EVE 350962. Run
EXEFILE from eve\bin directory.

download EVE 350962 from
http://community.eveonline.com/download/?fallback=1

the evecutable + two 7z files [Payload 1 and Payload 2]

I'd like to try something like that, wipe and install again, but i'm not shure what to wipe without losing the all overview settings, ig bookmarks..

This is from the EVE board (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=80447&p=3). You can change these settings by opening Crossover Manage Bottles, pick your EVE bottle, Control Panel tab, Wine Config, Libraries tab.

If the patcher fails to download the patch, revert to (native, builtin):

msvcr10 (native, builtin)
msvcr8 (native, builtin)
msvcr9 (native, builtin)
msvcrt (native, builtin)

It should download and patch up fine.
But in order to play the game, you'll have to revert back again:

msvcr100 (builtin, native)
msvcr80 (builtin, native)
msvcr90 (builtin, native)
msvcrt (builtin, native)

Let me know if that helps. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=25544 may also be of some use.

As you can read two posts over it doesn't fix the problem. Then i reversed it back.

I sent two tickets yesterday, with screenshots. Do you have access to it ?

Looks like the main issue for me is the ExeFile.exe.

And an old problem wich is worse now cause i would need it working properly with this just-for-ads-launcher; the repair tool crashes if i answer yes for downloading the new version (of repair.exe). So i just answer no and it runs quite properly.

As it is said here
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=942114#post942114

Shall we - Crossover users - update Wine, install Wintricks and so on ? Isn't it included in Crossover and would produce conflicts ?

Hi.

Did you try a fresh clean install with last build using Crossover 11 ?
It helped me some months ago and now it seems to help again.

Then for the annoying DLL issues that needs differents settings for Launcher and game exe, you can disable launcher in preferences.
It will then only starts when a patch is available.
You will need to switch the dll orders for patching and then back again to play but at least it mitigates the issue...

Other solution would be to get differents settings for launcher and game exe but maybe hard to do.

Hi,

I did download the client yesterday and try to install it now - not sure which files to keep aside for settings backup -. Did you re-install the all thing and can play at the moment ?

Anyway thanks for your help

EDIT: Download twice the all thing from http://community.eveonline.com/download/?fallback=1
Result: DirectX9 failed installation, twice. What about GW2? :p

Wyack inside, still trying to play EvE online.

Done tickets here few days ago but no answer atm.

I got it to work changing the library files listed to builtin.

However, the graphics are very very slow. Any word from codeweavers on a fix?

Hi. Good news that you managed to get it working.
Does it fully works, Launcher and game with that setup ?

Given the various issues and inconsistencies between distro behaviors I don't expect a fully tested fix before a week.
It's also us to help, as long as we have a clearly identified root cause and a reproducible fix it can easily be implemented.

No time for me to do this job as I would like unfortunately, I'll try to get together all that was said here and run some tests when I can.

Hi,

Playable at last, I had to copy a well running W7 x64 version from a mate.

Works through ExeFile.exe + Wine 1.4 only (NOT Crossover Games exe bottle). No eve.exe, no launcher (crash when hit play).

Have to low the settings for better perf. It ran much better before patch with Crossover 😉

Yes. The game did fully work.

However, tonight I went to launch it and it appeared a new launcher downloaded. Now I cannot get the launcher to work. I get multiple errors.

pythondll failed
python27.dll
pythondll failed
python27.dll

Failed to do launcher self-update. Please try running the repair tool located in your eve online client folder

On Wine only: very bad. Even with lowest graphisms it can't load the environment after 30 min running two client at a time.

Had no problem at all under Crossover BEFORE this dam patch, with good graphism and so.

Please, ô Super Crossover Staff, make it working well as it was ! prey

I'm sorry that we haven't been as proactive as we should have been about dealing with this issue. We've been quite distracted with the release of Crossover XI. That's not a great excuse, of course, but this one slipped through the cracks.

We're working on finding a solution, now, and we'll provide more information as it becomes available.

The patcher can work if you have the libs set to native, builtin. So set them native, builtin in general config. and the ExeFile.exe in the menucfg put it builtin, native. no need to change them back and forward.

No Joy in eve online today!

testing today with

Default overrides:
msvcr90 (native, builtin)
msvcr100 (native, builtin)

and ExeFile.exe overrides:
msvcr90 (builtin, native)
msvcr100 (builtin, native)

On CX 11.0.2, Fedora 16 (64-bit), I can get from the patcher/launcher to the login screen and then to the character selection screen every time. I do have to click "play" twice on the patcher/launcher to get to the login screen.

From there, it gets harder to figure out. I've got 3 characters, and only 1 of them can actually enter the game. The other 2 will begin to enter game, and then I get a crash back to the login screen.

Admittedly, I don't play EVE very much - just to test and make sure it's still working, really, so hardly any time in-game - so my EVE-specific vocabulary is limited, but the only common factor I see is that the two characters who crash to login have a "splash screen" (looks like a space station control room through a "dream haze") while the "entering game" loading occurs, whereas the character who can enter game successfully gets no "splash screen". Just a black screen with the "entering game" loading boxes.

Long story short, once I'm logged in and at the character selection screen, I can't really tell where Crossover's problems end and EVE's begin. I'd think that if the failure were Crossover's, then all my characters would fail, but I'm still waiting for more investigation from development.

Anyone else having somewhat similar experiences?

got it - "load station environment" must be un-checked. Which is, of course, not ideal, but I can now play.

Your 2 chars problems is the "wander around the station" thingy. U must have the shaders to high or so, or it will break. Just disable load station environment before logging in.

The issue is not about bultin/native thing for me, i manage it well enough to play under Wine.

But no way to run the game under Crossover ?..

And it looks like that under Wine, the graphic card is much more sought - the fan is running like hell when i log two char at a time, and after sometime some glitches appears, ship white, space environnement vanished etc.. -

So, i'm still looking for a way to play under Crossover; should i uninstal Wine, Crossover and some other soft then install it again ?
By the way, i've done it once after the bad patch, and now when i run the Crossover launcher/bottle it ask me to register/pay for it.. I'm registered and paid for it already !

At this point I've modified the Crosstie file on the main page of this entry (the "overview" tab), and I've been able to successfully install and play EVE using this new Crosstie. By today the "EVE Online" entry inside Crossover's Install Software menu should reflect the new changes in the tie file, but to be sure you could just launch the crosstie from the overview tab. Re-installing Crossover or removing wine shouldn't be necessary, but deleting your EVE Online bottle in Crossover's Manage Bottles tab and then re-installing (via the crosstie) might be worthwhile.

If Crossover is yelling at you to pay for it, make sure you're registered with the "register and unlock this demo" option in Crossover's menu. If you are, then you're seeing a very annoying bug whereby some bottles become convinced they're not registered. Our developers are working on a bugfix update for this issue (which should be out next week, it will be Crossover 11.0.3), but deleting your EVE Online bottle and re-installing will also solve this problem, since it's the old bottle that's corrupted.

its working for me with the new Crosstie file thanks.......

Ubuntu 11.10 3.6 GiB,AMD Turion(tm)X2 Dual Core Mobile RM-72 × 2 ,64-bit.311.1 GB

Seems to work fine now under Slackware64 -current. It continually crashed a dozen times before I successfully enter the game. It seemed to have dumped me in the Captain's Quarters somehow (I think because I installed a fresh copy of the game while docked in a station). Managed to move myself out of the quarters and now it seems to play without issue. Thanks for the update to Crossover!
