EVE Installers

Doesn't EVE already have installers to run natively under Linux, Mac, and Windows?

Check out this link: http://www.eve-online.com/download/

I'm just confused as to why people would want to run the program through a compatibility layer instead of the actual install for that OS.

The EvE Installer is a Cedgea wrap, and only supports the EvE CLASSIC client. The "Premium" Features are disabled. In addition the Cedega wrap is not stable either, and has several known issues which has been sitting out there for months.

Most folks leverage WINE to get around the cedega issues, however folks like myself whose Wine FU is not strong rely on tools like Codeweavers to help make games work. (Although I haven't been able to use it reliably with Codeweavers either)
