Not quite working out

Hi,

I tried installing Eve on my new computer here, it worked pretty well on my old 20" iMac using 6.0.1, so I figured it will work even better on my Mac Pro with 6.1. Not so.

It's nice not to have all the workarounds we had to deal with before, but I just can't get the program to run anymore. The problem has something to do with sound I believe. If I leave the sound on in the bottle control panel I can sign on but either it goes to a blank screen and stays there forever or it comes up with the power button symbol telling me I need to restart by holding down the power button.

If I turn the sound off it comes up with the splash screen and then disappears, no crash but no activity either. The specs are pretty standard:

Mac Pro 2.0ghz
3gb RAM
nvidia 7300 GT
10.4.10
6.1

There's a known problem when running EVE Online with CrossOver 6.1 on some Nvidia graphics chipsets (certainly the 7300 GT). We think it's a problem with the OpenGL drivers that come with Mac OS X for those chipsets, but we haven't been able to nail it down.

We will have a workaround for 6.2. If you open a support ticket, we can look into providing you with an interim workaround in the meantime.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hm. Perhaps this is affecting me as well. I get past the splash, and the "no audio" alerts pop up (because I've disabled audio). Then, a black screen, high CPU usage, and all I get is a mouse pointer that tracks... ☹️

Specs: MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz 4GB RAM, GeForce 8600M GT, OS/X 10.4.10.

Well, we've got a MacBook Pro similar to yours on the way. Once we get it, we'll look into getting EVE Online to work properly with it. Hopefully, we get it, figure out the problem, and find a fix in time to make it into 6.2.

If you've got high CPU usage, that may be a clue to what's wrong. If CrossOver is in full-screen mode, you can use Command-Option-Shift-R to get out of that mode. You can use Activity Monitor to identify which process is consuming the CPU, select it, and then sample it (Sample Process from the View menu). That may indicate what the process is trying to do.
